Chicago White Sox shut out Cleveland Indians 10-6 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox shut out Cleveland Indians 10-6 at the Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, April 11 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
A.J. Pierzynski hit a towering three runs home run and he drove in four runs to help the White Sox take an impassable lead over their rivals. Cleveland fought back strongly in the fifth inning to reduce the deficit to 5-4 but Alejandro De Aza’s two run home
run in the sixth forced them out of the contest.
"I don't know if you ever feel comfortable with any big lead," said Manager Robin Ventura, who was managing the club only for the fifth game.
"I felt confident in our pitchers, bringing them in, but you can't have too many runs."
"He hung a slider," Pierzynski said. "I've been facing him for years and he always makes good pitches, a good slider, good slider, good slider. Finally, he missed with one and I made contact. It never seemed like we had enough.”
The White Sox will be very pleased with their efforts in a three game series against the Indians. Showing great composure and ability to handle the pressure, the White Sox secured a comfortable 4-2 win in the opening game of the series.
Chicago continued their domination in game two as well on Wednesday night to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series. If they can take their impressive form into the final game, the White Sox will have an excellent opportunity to complete their first series
sweep of this season. The Spring Training work outs are paying dividends for Chicago as they improved their win-loss record to 3-2.
After dropping two of their first three regular season games, it seems the White Sox are finally putting the pieces of the puzzle together. The Indians, on the other hand, have no one to blame except for themselves.
Despite having the home crowd advantage working in their favour, they were unable to handle their nerves, which eventually led to their downfall. With a poor 1-4 win-loss record this season, the Indians will need a miracle to avoid the series sweep.
