Chicago White Sox sign draft picks Eric Jaffe and Sammy Ayala – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox new manager Robin Ventura whose experience as a baseball manager in Major League Baseball is not huge but along with the top management of the franchise, he is trying to take Chicago’s baseball team to another level.
Lately the White Sox have signed two draft picks Eric Jaffe and Sammy Ayala in order to make their position stronger in the coming season.
Ayala received $258,800 bonus and Jaffe received a $100,000 bonus for their respective contracts.
These two signings are a continuation of Ventura’s new policy which he unveiled when he took over the reins of the White Sox. Ventura is interested in bringing new and young players into the roster every year.
Coming onto the talents of both players who will be playing for the White Sox in the coming seasons, an American League area scout, who also has a keen eye on new draft picks, recently spoke to the media regarding Ayala and his impressive plays.
He said, "He's a big, strong-bodied lefthanded guy with some power and some arm strength, He held his own catching; he did enough back there to be in the conversation with the other catchers there. He showed no fear against those guys—he looked like he belonged.
And he made hard contact."
On the other hand, Eric Jaffe, a 11th round pick, is also a highly impressive player from University of California Los Angeles.
According a recent report in which UCLA was praised for its contribution in pro sports. Almost seven players from this institute have been awarded with pro contracts including the recent inclusion of Jaffe.
UCLA head coach John Savage said, “We are really proud of these guys, not only for what they’ve accomplished at UCLA, also for taking that next step in their baseball careers, It’s a credit to their dedication and hard work the last three seasons. These
players were part of the most successful class in school history.”
Baseball, Basketball and Football are major sports in the US while UCLA has always produced good raw talent for the big leagues. They also have long history of producing well known baseball players while this is another achievement for the institute that
seven of their players will now see their future in the Major Leagues.
