Chicago White Sox slip to Toronto Blue Jays 9-11 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 9-11 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 8 at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago.
Though the White Sox have already won the series when they defeated the Blue Jays in back-to-back games but the outcome of the very last game certainly suggests that the Toronto side still possess enough energy to play longer in the season.
The All-Star break will be starting from July 10 but the Blue Jays have shown in their latest game that they can still bounce back from their current fifth position in the American League East Division.
In Sundays’ game, the Blue Jays played brilliantly and earned a great victory against the White Sox.
Going early into the lead, the Blue Jays just kept the White Sox under pressure and never gave any chance to dominate them.
“We had a very good offensive day. High number of walks, First inning we put together, both Colby, who continues to swing the bat well, Eddie with another big home run for us. We needed every run we could put on the board the way this turned out." manager John Farrell said.
Along with the batters, the Blue Jays’ pitchers also did well and played perfectly.
Starter Brett Cecil was the only one in the Blue Jays’ rotation who was hammered for seven runs, six hits and six earned runs along with a homer as well. His ERA rose to 6.75 but still his relief pitchers Jesse Chavez, Casey Janssen and Luis Perez took control of the game and held the White Sox batters with enormous power.
“I was just telling the trainers, five outs seems like forever. I got used to getting three. It was all right," Janssen said. "I've obviously done it before in my career, it was just a little different than the last month or so."
On the other hand, the White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod proved a real disaster as his team could not stop the Blue Jays’ batters who virtually outplayed them in every department of the game. Axelrod finished giving up seven runs, six hits and seven earned runs.
