Chicago White Sox stun Boston Red Sox 4-1 – Major League Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-1 and regained some pride in the series which they have already lost 3-0.
However, now the final 3-1 series’ score, somewhat gave little confidence to the struggling White Sox who are going to face Cleveland Indians in their next three match encounter from Tuesday, May 1.
This was the last game between Red Sox and White Sox of their four-match regular series encounter in 2012 Major League Baseball season which was played on Sunday, April 29 at U.S Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois.
The White Sox talented pitcher Gavin Floyd was influential throughout the game and retired 14 Red Sox batters and proved to be the real difference.
“Absolutely, especially since Phil did recently. It was natural, but obviously you have to put it behind you," Floyd said with confidence. "Your object is to get in there and as late you can and if it happens it happens. You just have to keep your focus and keep attacking."
He played a balanced game giving no hit into the later seventh innings and took the game away from the Red Sox who previously have given hard beating to Floyd in 10-3 two consecutive defeats.
Floyd’s past 2-3 record further improving as he struck out nine hitters in just over six innings, receiving three hits but one for one run. Floyd, who was expecting his ERA to improved, did his best as now his ERA is consistent at 3.13 along with 31 total strike-outs and 0.95 WHIP.
Without his aggressive plays, the White Sox could have not won this game who were going into further losing streak.
"It is nothing against Hector, he still will be in there in the ninth, but you're looking at guy with a body of work against those three guys," Ventura said for his team its latest win. "I felt confident leaving Matt in there."
This is a healthy sign for the White Sox who have bounced back at the right time as they now prepare themselves to tackle the Cleveland Indians offence in their next three-game outing from Tuesday.
