Chicago White Sox succumb to Baltimore Orioles 3-5 – MLB Update
The Chicago White Sox lost to Baltimore Orioles 3-5 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, August 30 at Oriole Park in Baltimore.
Orioles’ pitchers played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team.
"You've got to go in there and put this series behind us and hopefully go into Detroit and play well, The Orioles are playing well right now. They have a confidence about them, especially at home. We're out of here now and we have to worry about Detroit,"
catcher A.J. Pierzynski said on his team’s defeat.
Zach Britton pitched eight innings and received seven hits and gave one run only. He struck out ten and maintained his 4.80 ERA.
His pitching remained unplayable for the entire Orioles batting lineup which proved wonderful in the end. He remained consistent with his pitching and literally won the game for the Orioles.
"They got to him in that inning, Everything was kind of up and kind of the same speed, really. They can hit, they got him," manager Robin Ventura said on his team’s performance.
Relief pitcher Pedro Strop pitched 0.1 innings and received two runs and two hits on his 1.86 ERA.
Closer Jim Johnson was also exceptional on the mound as he pitched 0.2 innings and struck out only on batter on his 2.93 ERA.
Along with pitchers, the Orioles batters also proved wonderful as they kept the White Sox’s pitchers under pressure during the entire game.
Nick Markakis allowed one run and one hit on his three at bats. He remained calm on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .475.
J.J. Hardy scored one run and smashed one hit on his four at bats. He also added one RBI and maintained his slugging percentage at .382.
"If he can go out give you eight innings with no walks, he's going to be hard to beat, That was the most impressive I've seen him," Jones said with confidence.
Adam Jones also played well as he scored one run and smashed one hit along with two RBIs on his slugging percentage .507.
