Chicago White Sox suffer 3-5 defeat from Minnesota Twins – MLB Recap
Chicago White Sox suffered a humiliating 3-5 defeat from the Minnesota Twins in the second game of their two-match regular series encounter on Sunday, April 21 at U.S. Cellular field in Chicago.
White Sox’s entire batting played poorly against the Twins pitchers. They struggled from started of the game and never took control of the game.
“It's still early, you don't want to keep losing games like this, but we're not worried, We're a talented team and we're going to be able to compete in this division and in other divisions. We just have to put a few good at-bats together and we'll be fine. We'll get out of this," outfielder Alex Rios said.
Not only their batting lineup, but their upfront pitchers also played ordinary and lost the important game. They were hammered by the attacking Twins roster who dominated them from start of the game.
“Our bullpen came in and did a really nice job of shutting it down at the end, Some guys made some big pitches in some big situations on both teams, and we finally come up with a big hit with Hammer driving one in the gap," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Starting pitcher Gavin Floyd started the game for the White Sox. He pitched six solid innings but lost the composure very early. He pitched six innings and allowed one runs and three hits. He allowed one earned while his ERA rose to 4.98. Though he struck out six Twins batters, but overall he just could not pitch well and lost the game for the White Sox.
Relief pitcher Matt Lindstrom pitched 0.2 innings and allowed three runs and two hits. He also allowed three earned runs in juts 0.2 inning’s spell.
On the other hand, the White Sox batters also disappointed with their poor hitting. Only left fielder Alejandro De Aza played well for the White Sox while rest of the hitters were dominated by the Twins pitchers.
Alejandro De Aza scored two runs and two hits on his four at bats. He showed good hitting prowess on his .471 slugging percentage but his contribution was just not enough to save the game for the White Sox.
