Chicago White Sox surpass Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox surpassed the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 30 at Tropicana Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Jose Quintana, on throwing knee level ball to Ben Zobrist, was ejected in his fourth innings, but still the White Sox composed themselves in the game and hammered the Rays with 4-3 win.
"I was going to throw a fastball, but A.J. (Pierzynski) asked him for a changeup and instead of crossing him over, I went through and it just slipped away," Quintana said.
As soon as White Sox’s starter was ejected, manager Robin Ventura started an argument with the umpire who later was also ejected from the game.
"I've never seen anything like that, I don't know how to explain it. I was shocked. Usually if the guy feels it (had) intent, he gives warning and it goes from there, but it just shocked me." Ventura said.
Later Rays’ manager Joe Maddon said for Quintana’s incident, "When a pitcher throws behind somebody like that, it's pretty obvious what their intent was regardless of the denials on the other side, I thought the home plate umpire did a great job, actually.
We're not really playing a high level of baseball right now, Too many mistakes on the field."
At start of the game, both teams played offensive and showed the level of thrust in their strategies.
However, the White Sox were more diligent as they made four runs into six and eventually went pass the Rays’ offence in ninth.
This win has now taken the White Sox at top position in the American League Central with 29-22 win loss and .569 winning percentage.
Though the Cleveland Indians are coming fast with their .540 win percentage, but still the White Sox has more depth in their roster to overcome any sudden situation.
In the meanwhile, despite losing the series, the Tampa Bay Rays are also in quite comfortable situation in the American League East Division with 29-22 win loss record along with .569 winning percentage.
