Chicago White Sox thrash Tampa Bay Rays 7-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox thrashed the Tampa Bay Rays 7-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 29 at Tropicana Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the White Sox took the series 2-0 as well with one game to spare. The White Sox now sitting quite comfortable in their Division with eight consecutive wins.
Starter Philip Humber played tremendously and earned a good win for Chicago. He pitched seven innings and allowed five hits and two runs. He also struck out Tampa Bay batters and maintained his 5.37 ERA with exceptional control.
“I just tried to simplify things, My only goal was let's not walk anybody. I walked one guy, but at the same time, I feel like that's really kind of been what's been biting me lately. I've just been beating myself a lot. That was something I was kind of proud, just being able to pound the strike zone." Humber said for his team’s win as well as for his own performance.
On the other hand, James Shields proved a real disaster for the Tampa Bay side. He was too waivered during his six innings’ spell as he gave six runs and ten hits along with five earned runs.
"We were able to get to him one inning, Other than that, he shut us down. I know that we were going to have to really grind it out against him.” Later in the game White Sox DH Adam Dunn said for Shields’ pitching which certainly cost the game to Tampa Bay.
White Sox entered into the Tropicana Field with enormous energy and started off well. Their starting rotation kept the Tampa Bay batters under pressure.
On the other hand, though the Tampa Bay scored early in the fourth inning but soon the White Sox hitters started a tremendous run creating a five runs’ gap in the eighth and eventually won the game with big margin 7-2.
This win was a special one for the White Sox as it put the Chicago side at top in American League Central Division with 28-22 win-loss record along with .560 winning percentage.
