Chicago White Sox to decide final roster – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox have completed some of the major signings and transaction related matters as they now turned their attention towards finalising their 40-man roster.
Some sources say that next two weeks are more critical when their top management will be completing every specific new signing.
This offseason, the White Sox’s free agency pool was quite thin but still they did talk with some of the good third baseman and catcher free agents.
These talks however, were only to determine about the potential possibilities to sign them with their reserve payroll.
The White Sox front office allocated $89.25 million for total nine players for next big event in the league. However, they expect that their total roster’s payroll will touch $100 million figure.
“It makes sense for the White Sox, but I don't see how they can pull it off, I know the Padres were going to ask for a lot around the All-Star break," the source said.
"I think the Padres will keep negotiating with him and see how he does in the first half before deciding what to do," the source said about the recent development in the White Sox roster.
Regarding future trades, General Manager of the Chicago White Sox, Rick Hahn said, "I think a lot of the reason we haven't done trades over the years was because we were in similar spots — we were both trying to win that year, We talked with them some last year (at the July 31 deadline presumably about Ryan Dempster)."
The White Sox did well in the 2012 Major League Baseball season. They played well and showed good level of commitment which certainly improved their Division standings.
Though they could not qualify into the post-season, but still they played with aggression and won many games. Their entire roster showed consistent plays and defeated some of the top teams in the Major League.
Experts believe that the new Major League Baseball season will bring some great opportunities for the White Sox. If they remained consistent throughout the next season, chances are high that the White Sox roster will go all the way into World Series.
