Chicago White Sox trade relief pitcher Sergio Santos to Toronto Blue Jays – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox are preparing hard for the next Major League Baseball season as their top management has recently decided to trade relief pitcher Sergio Santos to the Toronto Blue Jays for a future pitching prospect Nestor Molina.
This recent deal was already on the cards when last week many baseball experts speculated in the media that Santos is heading to another team. Two main reasons led to his trade to the Blue Jays. First, the White Sox management wanted to add a new player
who will play for them for a longer period and secondly, they wanted to trim off payroll of about $127 million.
This huge salary slash will eventually help the White Sox in this new rebuilding process that general manager Kenny Williams has promised to all the fans.
The White Sox GM Williams stated in detail on Tuesday with enormous stress on their new pitcher Molina, who is coming in the course of massive expectations as new pitching prospect for upcoming seasons.
Williams said, “He has a 90-96 mph fastball that bores in on right-handed hitters, keeps the ball down, can hit the outside corner, inside corner, he has a swing-and-miss-type splitter that drops off the table, slider and an equally effective changeup, I
want to be very clear, ‘as of today, Because a lot of things can change at these meetings as evidenced by this move.”
Nestor Alberto Molina, who has spent five years in the Minor League Baseball under the supervision of Blue Jays affiliates where he went with 12-3 along with a 2.21 ERA, 16 walks, 148 strike-outs in over 130 innings linking the Class A and AA levels in 2011
alone, is a highly regarded player among many experts and now will make the White Sox 40-man roster in 2012.
Molina also has the full backing of the White Sox Latin American baseball scouting Chief Marco Paddy and is already making news even before his arrival. It will be interesting to see what impact the trade will have on the team as they look to rebuild from
the gound up.
