Chicago White Sox’s Jake Peavy keen to perform, makes progress in Spring Training Camp
White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy is making tremendous progress in Glendale, Arizona. The Chicago White Sox are busy this spring preparing for the 2011 Major League Baseball season.
The club has been preparing its ball players for the challenge ahead and Peavy is one man proving to be an incredible asset for the White Sox. He’s making good progress, given his injury that plagued the club’s aspirations in recent months. The pitcher made
progress recently when he threw 40 pitches in a live batting practice in the bullpen, for the second day in three days.
Peavy had injured his right shoulder on July 6th last season. The player was up against the Los Angeles Angels that day and since then, has been inactive. The pitcher has a ball throwing action criticised by baseball analysts around the country. Peavy has
been given a timeline of six weeks beyond the Opening Day till he gets back to the rotation. General Manager Ken Williams isn’t comfortable with the player coming back sooner.
However, Peavy has the option to return on April 6th. That could come through if the supporting coaches and managers give their consent to the decision. For Jake though, the situation is different. He intends to get into action as soon as possible and to
contribute well throughout the season. He says the real thing he wants is to be healthy for the major part of this season. “If I’m healthy this whole season and throw 200 innings with the guys, it’s certainly something I want to do. But if I don’t, I don’t
see myself being that far behind.”
Focusing on his health and fitness, Peavy says he wants to make sure there is no setback to his game because once things pop up they have to be dealt with. “But we are going to put this lat stuff, we are coming off major surgery, and we want to make sure
that's all a go before we turn the reins completely loose,” says the pitcher.
