Chicago style pizza, like Giordano's

Ok so I recently visited chicago for a week, and the first thing we did when we got to our hotel, since we were exhausted, was order a pizza. I decided on a place called Giordano's. If you've lived in Chicago, Im sure you know the place. I ordered a large stuffed, pepperoni, cheese, and jalapeno pizza for the two of us. As a cheese lover, I was completely blown away, in love, flabbergasted, whatever you wanna call it, and pretty much survived on nothing but Giordano's pizza and beer for the rest of the week. Anyway, since I've been home (2 months now) I've had a hole in my heart, and my stomach, for that pizza. I live in East Tennessee, no where near chicago. My question is this...anything at all that could be a close substitute? Im going to Myrtle Beach, SC next week, and there's a place there called "east of chicago" but I didn't find many reviews on it, didnt know if it was a real representation of Chicago style pizza....Help!! I need a fix!! lol

  1. Question for you.

1 week on stuffed pizza and beer  -  have you lost all the weight you gained?

  2. Pizzeria Uno started as a Chicago pizza place and has become a nation-wide chain.  It's not quite the same style as Giordanos, but it is good pizza and considered Chicago style so it might be good enough to give you your fix.  I've never heard of east of chicago, but there is another restaurant called Chicago Pizza (or something close to that) that serves good pizza but it's nothing like Giordanos.  Most nation-wide restaurants that serve Chicago style pizza just serve it deep dish with a reall thick crust and not like Giordanos.  But good job accidentally stumbling onto my favorite pizza place in Chicago!

  3. Giordano's, like several other of the most popular Chicago pizza spots, ship their pizza pies, and you can enjoy them at home!

  4. Nope, Chicago is the only place where you can get real pizza. But alas, there are options!

Gino's East (another great chicago pizza place) now has frozen pizzas that are pretty good. Also, if you wanna spend the cash Gino's actually ships accross the country! Good The Original Gino's East for details.

Last I checked I think it was like $50 to ship though. I have a nephew in Alaska and I treated him to a shipment about 6 months ago!
