Chicago to LA should I fly or drive?

If I drive I would have a driving buddy and make no stops. If I fly I would have to rent a car for 12 days.

You can take the old fashion famous Route 66 down to the end of the coast of cali which takes you to LA right on the spot, I suggest driving to save money then buying a ticket which would cost alot, but the gas prices are rediculous, but you can research to see which is cheaper.

Fly...gas prices are very high I think it would be cheaper to fly.
