There is chicken fried chicken, ...chicken or country fried steak is cooked in the style of fried chicken- breaded and served with gravy. i miss Grandy's!! ( a transplanted Texan....)

it refers to how you prepare it i think. because you make it flat like a steak and then pan fry it.

The reason it is called chicken fried steak is because of the breading you put on it.its like you bread chicken.but you use steak instead of chicken.its is good if cooked right my family loves it.and its good reheated.
