I want to make this for dinner tonight, but I don't eat chicken. Have you ever used any of the chicken substitutes in a slow cooker recipe? If yes, how did you adjust the cooking times to make it work well? I'm sure i need to adjust the cook time, but don't want to blow the whole recipe by adding the chick'n strips too early or too late. I was thinking of using the morningstar strips because they worked well in enchiladas. I'm going to use tofutti 'better than sour cream' as a sub for the sour cream. YUM!!

Any advice is welcome! Thank you!

  1. Im not sure if they would hold up that long....

Now and Zen "breast of unchicken" is pretty good, but it's really overpriced

  2. Try using it the last hour of cooking and see if it works. Even if you cook it on the stove first to give it some substance then put it in the cooker.

I have never made that recipe, nor have I used the chick n strips, but I would try putting it in later rather than earlier. (they might moosh if you put it in earlier).

    just a suggestion.

  3. I throw quorn pieces in the slowcooker during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
