Wasn't he one of the well known police officers destined for great things? Channel 5 news said he committed suicide. Shame really that anyone can feel that bad that they see no other way out...

Suicide is never the answer ........and contrary to the theme tune from MASH ........ is rarely painless .........

Edit: Daisychain - I said suicide is not the answer and isnt painless, and somehow I get blasted for it. Talk about damned if I do and damned if I don't.

Most sites have now withdrawn the suicide claim, except Sky.  I'd ask for the coroner to do his job before all the finger pointing.

I've hill walked there.  And there are some treacherous cliffs if the cloud comes down quickly.

It dosent necessarily mean he killed himself.I climbed Snowdon last year in relatively calm conditions and it was hard work. 3 girls from my class had to be airlifted to hospital because they had hypothermia.So if he has been walking in Snowdonia during very windy conditions he could easily have lost balance and fallen down a steep hill or cliff

That's not what they said in the press conference. He was walking in Snowdonia. I imagine it was an accident until we hear otherwise.
