Chief of Top Rank Robert Arum says Michael Katsidis next for Brandon Rios – Boxing news
Chief of Top Rank Robert “Bob” Arum has said it is highly likely that the Undefeated Mexican-American professional boxer Brandon Lee Rios will take on the former two-time WBO World Interim Lightweight titleholder Michael Katsidis of Australia as his next
possible opponent.
The venue and date of the competition is still not decided.
The current WBA World Lightweight Champion Rios will be returning to the ring after his sensational win against the former WBO, NABO and NABF Super Featherweight Champion Antillon. Antillon faced second consecutive loss out of three in his professional boxing
career.
The 25-year-old Brandon ‘Bam Bam’ Rios made the first successful defence of his World Boxing Association World Lightweight title winning a 3rd round knockout decision against the Mexican-American professional boxer Urbano Antillon recently at
the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California.
The 28-year-old Orthodox stance Antillon made his Top Rank debut against Rios.
The promoter of both of the fighters Bob Arum said, “Everyone wants to see Brandon now.”
Talking about Rios’s next fight, Arum revealed, “Rios next bout will be his second lightweight title defense, Arum said, most likely against Australia's Michael Katsidis, who has fought hard but lost recent battles against Juan Manuel Marquez and Robert
Guerrero.”
It is expected that Pacquiao will be fighting Rios in 2012 because both the fighters are now under Top Rank. However, it depends on the Pacquiao vs. Marquez fight scheduled for November 2011. Whoever wins the bout will be facing Rios as his next opponent.
Rios has been an outstanding performer since he joined boxing as a profession. He is still an undefeated boxing prospect. Rios has fought a total of 29 fights of which he has won 28. The other one resulted in a draw.
The 30-year-old experienced Australian professional boxer Michael Alan Katsidis is scheduled to take on Michael Lozada in August 2011 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland. Katsidis will be defending his WBA, WBO Interim Lightweight
titles against Lozada.
Let’s see who wins the Pacquiao vs. Marquez bout since he will be facing Rios hopefully in his next possible fight.
