I work in a chinese restaurant(give you more idea: it is in Boston, fast food/take out/delivery) and it close 2am. Last night i pick up a phone 1:53am, i said "Thankyou for calling but we close" The he reply said your menu said 2am, (he repeat like we are totally wrong) so is your menu lies. I told him that our chefs already dressed up and ready to leave. He told me he will talk to the owner on tomorrow. lol

I think he was pissed off and he seem want some kind of lawsuit for closing 7min early than it suppose be.

My question does a restaurant said close 2am (if customer keep coming of course we have to let them in even 1:59am) but beczu last night is so quiet.. we lock our door around 1:45.

  1. You don't take any orders after 2AM. Plain & simple.......

  2. If your business hours say 2am, then you have to be open and serve customers until 2am.  Having poor customer service like you showed last night is a sure-fire way to drive customers away.

  3. Technically you should be open until 2AM.  But if he is not in the store by 2 AM then he can't get his food.  Plus, it is really rude to wait until less than 10 minutes before closing to try to order.  I worked in food service for years while going to school.  Nothing was more annoying than the customer who walked in just before we were closing.  It made everyone stay late, the kitchen staff, server, bus boy, etc.  Also, if you are a small business, it doesn't pay to stay open if there are no customers so closing early  makes good business sense.

  4. I worked at a Chinese restaurant all through high school. If we wanted to close early we always told the customer, the kitchen closes at 11:30 but be stay open for customers to pick up until midnight (etc). Or if we closed earlier we would say we closed for a monthly scrub down (cleaning). I remember getting screamed at for answer the phone ten minutes after we closed and he demanded to know why, I said it was in the event of an emergency as we're still here cleaning. Customers can't sue you for closing seven minutes early or even seven hours early. The restaurant business surprisingly has some very relaxed laws. Don't let this guy bother you and if he really has a hard time report him to the police.
