Chihuahua or yorkshire terrier?

Question

im planning to buy a dog...my choices are chihuahua or yorkshire terrier, ilove the both breeds so i cant choose!please help me!!!

tell me the good and bad sides of these dogs...about personality,health,appearance,expences etc.

I have a dog before, its breed is a yorkie..she is so cute and adorable....but there is only one thing i dont like about her,,...wen its dark, she always bark...she is scared i guess,,,,but they have good health and little shy wen we have some new visitors....better choose yorkie....but chihuahua are kinda cute too....but i prefer yorkie.....

Chihuahuas make noise constantly! They love to bark. They long haired chihuahuas are much cuter, but need to be brushed.

Yorkies are very very cute. (The cutest are the yorkipoos. they are a mix for a mini poodle and yorky. they are much smaller. [so small that they can fit on your hand when they are puppies.]) Yorkies are mostly good dogs (a few have bad attitudes, like any breed of dog).

I would go for the Yorkie.

Both breeds can be good dogs and have mild dispositions, maybe the Yorkie more so than the Chi.  You're better off finding larger breed types, stay away from teacup varieties, they have more health issues due to being bred so small.  In my experience, Yorkies are nicer dogs than Chihuahuas.

but its definetly the yorkshire terrier!

chihuahuas are cute and small, but since they are so small, they could get hurt really easily, chihuahuas are not the kind of dog that you could really play with, like to run around w/.

most chihuahuas are for accessories.

like paris hilton and tinkerbell

chihuahuas also have a squeaky bark. [it could get annoying at times]

because chihuahuas get hurt easily, you would need to go to the vet more and more. this would cost a lot of money.

yorkshiere terriers on the other hand, are very playful and strong, and at the same time, cute and small. yorkshiere terriers are much heavier than chihuahuas but thats only because they are stronger. [they wont get as hurt as much]

I have a yorkie. She's great! Easily trained, calm, and loves to be cuddled. The only downside I can think of having either one of the dogs is that they're so yippy.

Chihuahua

Bad Things:

Barks allot if not trained well.

Loses hair.

Males can be Alpha dogs.

Can get chubby really easy.

Have to feed 3 times a day.

Good Things:

Small you can take them almost everywhere.

Cuddly and loves to play with you.

Very Cute!

Are friendly with other people.

Yorkshire Terrier:

Bad:

Have to groom them.

Can be ugly.

They bark allot

They think they are pitbulls.

Both dogs are good. I favor the chihuahua, but try finding a breeder who sells yorkshires and one that breeds chihuahuas. Meet the pups and choose whichever one you like the best.

they are both brilliant dogs,

they have very similar personalities, for example both can be ery energetic and both do not need long walks.

however, there is not set personality for every single dog of each breed. from past experience, they are both very good with children, howeer the yorkie a bit more so. the yorkie breed is also a bit more friendly, and obidient. so there fore i would advise you to get a yorkshire terrier, but the final choice is of cource yours.

i have based this answer on my past experiences only, so you may want to check with others before you make your choice.

Chihuahua:

Good:take less grooming, are heat tolerant,soooo cute, can go for short walks, love to explore, no major health problems

Bad: Hate cold so they need a sweater, run very fast so are hard to catch if they run away!, as small puppies if they fall off a couch they get severely hurt or even die!, some can be very timid others a little too bold, all chihuahuas have a soft spot/hole in their forehead.

Yorkie:

Good: Make great watch dogs, it taught well make great dogs, can go for short walks, will keep any pesky rodents away, love to play indoors.

Bad: Are very yappy, need lots of grooming, get bored easily, are very independent, don't do good with small children, have thetendencyy to kill small animals, have to be trained really good, cannot live outdoors, are trouble makers

major health concerns: portacaval shunt, tracheal collapse, Leggs-Perthes

In my opinion I would get a chihuahua
