Chilaw Marians Cricket Club v Lankan Cricket Club - Premier Limited Over Tournament - Group B – Live Score and Update
Lankan Cricket Club 181 v Chilaw Marians Cricket Club innings 117 - Lankan Cricket Club won by 64 runs
The bowlers had a superb day in the Premier Limited Over Tournament on Thursday, as most of the games were low scoring events, where the batsmen had a h**l of a time standing on the wicket.
The match between Chilaw Marians Cricket Club and Lankan Cricket Club saw both sides score less than two hundred runs as the bowlers dominated the day.
Lankan Cricket Club, who chose to bat, had a despicable start as they lost their first wicket with only three runs on the scoreboard.
With opener WWP Taraka on the benches after scoring only a run, it was time for BY Arumathanthri and S Salgado to forge a potent resistance on a bowling wicket.
However, this partnership only led the side to 23 runs, before S Salgado was caught by KAS Jayasinghe after jabbing 12 runs off 21 deliveries.
Arumathanthri and PD Dias then led a brilliant comeback, as they kept the scoreboard ticking, while at the same time prevented the bowlers from getting a wicket.
Finally, with 48 runs on the board, the batting side lost the services of Arumathanthri, who was trapped in front of stumps by Karunaratne after hitting 16 runs off his bat.
In the 18th over, it was time for PD Dias to find his way back to the pavilion, as he was dismissed by Pathirana after bolstering a 12-run knock off 28 deliveries. By this time, the batting side had managed to pile 52 runs on the board.
Ten runs later, they lost their fifth wicket of the day on the demise of BOP Fernando, who was picked up by Pathirana.
With PDMA Cooray unbeaten on 61, the batting side played out their 50 overs by amassing 181 runs on the board.
From Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, SS Pathirana was the ace performer with five dismissals.
However, they had a terrible run chase as they were bowled out for 117, losing the match by a huge margin.
Lankan Cricket Club’s DRF Weerasinghe and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Perera-c87620 incinerated their opponents by sharing four wickets each.
