Child's education..medium of language english or regional?

Can any one tell. how it is necessary in current scenario to put our child in ENGLISH MEDIUM... or IN OUR MOTHER TOUNG...We are a typical middle class gujarati family..Me and my wife's english is ok but other members of family are not familier with english education... wher shd i put my child in english medium or gujarati medium...?? i have seen these days. illliterate people are also putting their childs at english medium school.. i dont know how they manage...can any one please suggest ....based on education psychology it is told that one should learn in mother tongue.. but current requiremetnt and a global citizen.. one must be educated in eglish medium... pls suggest

Language is a language. It is goddess saraswati in

another roop (form). We have to be practical please

put your child in english medium school only but see

that  your mother tongue gujerati is given importance

at home and other activities so in this way you can have

the cake and eat it too. Besides chanting of lagu mantra i.e.

Beeja mantra of goddess saraswati will go long way in

in making your child more brilliant and who knows may be

entitled for scholarship. So be brave and go ahead

admit your child to english medium school. Good luck

ENGLISH MEDIUM is good.

In coming years English known people were going to be  more.

let your children learn their mother tongue through extra school hours i.e.tution classes

academics-wise it would be better to put your child in an English medium school,because when your child will start his/her higher education English is the compulsory subject.I have seen many of my  Hindi/Marathi and Gujarati medium classmates find English very difficult,in coll.and as a result it is affecting their total percentage.

you can make sure that ur child is well versed in his mother tongue by speaking to him in Gujarati and asking and guiding him to translate it in English.

this way he/she will be able to say what he/she wants to in both the languages,improving your child's vocabulary and communications skills.

english is a global lang.wherever u go u can manage with eng,though u r unaware of other lang.cd's,books r available u patiently go thru all that and teach ur child.interact in eng with ur child.automatically it will start speaking in eng outside also.donot feel tired r lazy whenever it asks something.create interest in ur child by getting him fairy tales mickey mouse cd's etc...
