  1. not enough for the work that they do.

depends on the daycare, and if it's in a big city or rural community

anywhere from about $7 an hour to more then $18 an hour

($14000 to $30000 before taxes, union dues , etc..)

  2. not enough for taking care of someone elses offspring all day, that's for sure.

People sure are cheap when it comes to having people raise their kids, but they'll sure spend $4,000 for a new tv.

  3. it is about 12 per hour in Chicago area, but it depends on place, number of children and status of institution

if you have a choice, go rather for teacher's aid - the same level of education, the same average payment, but much easier work

  4. I can tell you, that where I live, employers want you to have education, at least 30 hrs, but only want to pay 6.50 -7 an hour, then work you ragged.

I was stuck there until I got my degree, b/c unfortunately the employers have the advantage, you are not yet qualified to do much more, the experience looks good once you have your degree, and there is always someone else willing to get paid squat to do your job.

  5. It really depends on where you live and what you offer.  I live in San Francisco and charge $2000 a month per child.  I take care of 9 children and have two employees.  Decide what you need to make and don't be afraid to ask for it.

I have have a beautiful house with 4 bedrooms and a big backyard.  I have spent lots of time and money planning and furnishing the space so that it is kid friendly while still being my home.

Parents will choose a daycare based on how they feel when meeting the provider.  I love kids and the daycare is my life.  I care for them as if they were my own.  They are safe, loved and stimulated.

I am from the midwest and know that I would make much less there.

  6. California - Teachers average between $7 - $10 depending on education and experience and what age they teach

Directors start at about 25K annually depending on experience and education

  7. Do you just mean a child care worker? I am confused with the specialist thing... When I worked in child care I made 12.75 and hour, not bad. I know that some places only pay minimum wage.
