Okay were going on vacation (yay!) on the 27th. I have 5 children and recently one of them got lost at a carnival. It was so scary, I don't want it to happen again. I know how busy the airports and amusment parks are and am afraid of loosing one of them.

I want some type of ID for them, just in case. I was looking n a website and saw stickers to go on either a backpack or shirt. Then I also saw wrist bands with cell phone numbers to call. One of my daughters is allergic to nuts. One is allergic to shellfish. Then I have 3 with inhalers. I would like to make sure that if they are lost, this is known. Please help me!

  1. I found this link to order bracelets - hope this helps!

  2. Just wanted to give a tip, I always upon entering a place show them a meeting place that if they get lost they go directly there.  Like at the carnival I tell them the merry go round...as far as the ID I like the answer about visiting the police station and getting an IDent a kids for the pocket and just instructing child to show that when lost.

  3. Our city's police department does ids for kids called I-DENT-A-KIDS that might be something to check in to it is an id that they care in there pocket that has all your info on it there name age, your name number address, and any medical needs, it also has there picture on it. We got 2 sets one for them to have in there pockets and one for us to carry so we could show if they got lost.

Just to add they don't cost anything.

  4. Dont let them get lost. Make up a buddy system and make sure everyone holds hands. If one child breaks it have the other children tell you as soon as hands are released. Keep a better eye on them. Good luck

  5. I have kids with inhalers and life-threatening allergies, too.

I do three things:  First,  I make sure that from the earliest they can learn it all the kids know their full name, address, phone, and our cellphone numbers.  My 7-year-old knows all of that information; my 4-year-old knows most of it but still sometimes reverses numbers on the phone.

I also put a piece of paper with relevant information (including the allergy info) in their pockets, and tell them to give it to a police officer or mom with kids if they get lost.  I don't really think you have to buy something.  Even with a very young kid, if they were actually lost, somebody would probably check their pocket eventually.  You could also make a bracelet yourself that says "Mom" with your phone number.  You could just buy one of those rubbery bracelets like for LiveStrong and write on it in permanent marker.

Finally, I dress them in matching, easy-to-spot outfits if we're going to be somewhere really crowded.

I also make sure they know what to do if they're lost:  I tell them to stay in one place where they can be seen and not to come looking for me, and to ask a police officer or a mom with kids to find or call us.  Of course I make sure that my kids with allergies from the earliest possible age know not to eat anything without stressing their allergy first.

You can buy a medic alert bracelet for the allergies and asthma, but honestly I think it's a waste of money.  My doctor friend tells me that if a kid were unconscious and unresponsive, they'd get epinephrine anyway.

  6. med id bracletts for the ones with allergies inhalers...i dress everyone (hubby and me too) in really bright tees when we go out in those places easier to see where they are although hard on the eyes

    good luck!

  7. Look online for Photo ID's for kids. There should be someone in your area that does it. You could also do medical dog tags or on a piece of paper write down all the information that you think is important and stick in the back pocket of your child.

  8. I wouldn't go the route of putting names on anything that a stranger can see. They could possibly call out your child's name and your child go them not thinking about what could happen.

I would get the wristbands with your cell or give them a note to keep in their back pocket stating what they are allergic too, inhalers, what flight you will be on, but be sure to tell them that if they lose you to show that to someone.

  9. I would do shirts. Make them shirts all the same color. I am not sure about the information that you would put on the shirts considering that there are bad people out there but I would put:

                I belong to

your name then your husbands name

    Please contact us @ 000-000-0000

I would not put there names on the shirts simply because this could be a distractions to them when people or older children start reading it out loud.

  10. I think most Walgreens can make child ID cards.. I would call your local store and ask if they have stickers and wrist bands as well. If you have small toddlers you might want to get a couple of those baby leash things lol. I know they look terrible but with 5 little ones, better safe than sorry!
