Child Plays’ Chucky gets a game, Xperia gets Dead Space and Battlefield: Bad Company 2
TiKGames are working on a video game which will star Child Plays’ mass murdering doll, Chucky, and Sony Ericsson Xperia users are set to get their hands on Dead Space and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 among other titles.
Starting things off with the doll that gave everyone nightmares and it seems that Chucky will be getting a video game reincarnation of himself.
A number of Video games have been adapted to the big screen and a number of films have video game tie-ins, which more often than not, tend to disappoint. Yet, it seems that Chucky’s venture in the virtual realm will have more freedom.
TiKGames sounded excited about their new project claiming that they are the first company to gain the rights of the franchise for the purpose of taking the series down a new avenue, i.e. Video games.
Alex Tikman, the Co-founder and Vice President of TiKGames, explained, “We’re proud to be able to bring a fan-favourite movie character, such as Chucky, to gaming platforms. Fans have been asking for a Chucky game for years and, soon, gamers around the world will be able to enjoy this highly-entertaining, interactive, downright gory experiences with this brand.”
The last sentence of that statement really has us sold and gamers should be looking forward to the game, albeit with a sense of cautious optimism.
Whether the game will be a full on experience or a PlayStation Network or Xbox Live title is still up in the air, as the publisher did not specify which platform they would be releasing the game on.
Moving on to the world of mobile phones, or to be more specific, gaming phones, as Electronic Arts and Sony have partnered up to bring a few of gaming’s largest franchises to the Xperia Play. The best part is they are making the games available for free!
Four games have been announced by Electronic Arts, with each one more mouth watering than the previous one. Need for Speed: Shift should cater to the needs of racing fans who want a more ‘simulation’ based experience, while another title, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, should satisfy gamers who prefer driving by the seat of their pants.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is also set to be joining the two Need for Speed titles, as is the survival-horror masterpiece that is Dead Space.
The games will be available to download for no cost whatsoever, up until the 15th of January next year. The move seems to be an attempt by Sony to try and boost the sales of its ‘PlayStation Phone’ which has not met the consumer electronics giant’s expectations.
Will the move pay off? Only time will tell.
