I have a 4 and 5 yr old by two different parents and im responsible for paying child support for both children(no problem)At 1 point I was laid off as a contractor and I really didnt have the means for a while to pay my obligation and I picked up alot of back child support.I have been paying both my current and back support over a yr now and the back support doesnt seem like its going anywhere.I dont want to change my order or anything I just want to eliminate the arrears. Is it possible I reside in the state of Virginia and I have contacted DCSE numerous times but I really didnt feel like I was getting anywhere please HELP!!!!! thanks in advance

  1. If your state charges interest on you arrears you may have to increase your payment amount.I'm paying back support and it does seem like your not getting anywhere with it ( bummer )

  2. Contact the child support office or atty general and find out exactly how much your in arrears for.  Then every month when you send in payment make sure you send in seperate checks or money orders and specifiy how that amount should be applied, whether current or past.

My son was in prison and when he did get out he was 11,000.00 behind.  That wasen't much of an incentive to get a job.
