Let's say a woman gets Canadian citizenship illegally. Now that woman moves away to live somewhere and has a baby who is born outside Canada, and gets citizenship automatically because the mother is a citizen. Under current Canadian law, what happens to the baby when he grows up? Does he/she get his citizenship taken away and kicked out of Canada?

  1. The baby unfortunately will loose the citizenship, since the baby acquired it from mother. Mother herself is a illegal citizen.

However i wonder how someone can get citizenship illegal?

Either way illegally living in any country will result in Lifetime ban on Visa's and Work permits including Permanent residences in most of the commonwealth countries.

Sorry to say this but this is the truth.

  2. Thhe mother

Deport illegals, and keep the dream alive.

  3. It doesn't actually say anything about that in the Canadian citizenship act.  You can lose your citizenship if you committed immigration fraud or if you renounce it, that's it.

If the woman obtained her citizenship by fraud, she could lose it if she was found out.  If her child did not know about the fraud because he or she wasn't born, I doubt they would lose theirs.

I also very much doubt that too many people in Canada lose their citizenship due to fraud.  For example we are extremely lenient with marriage fraud.  Once immigration has been convinced that a relationship is real, if the immigrant spouse abandons the marriage as soon as they come to Canada, nothing is done against them.
