Question:

Child-safe fans for cars

Our mini-van has an a/c, but it doesn't reach the middle or back seats, since there are no air vents back there... I'm looking for clip-on fans, or something that will work, so my 3 kids (one of them is a toddler) can keep cool... Does anyone know of some good ones? Foam blades aren't necessary, but would be a bonus! :)

  1. There's not a specific brand that is any better than another, just go to your local Pep Boys (or wherever) and pick up which ever one appeals to you.

That being said, its much safer to simply get the van cooled down (or warmed up, depending the season) before you buckle the kids in whenever possible.  My husband would always run out to the van and get it started while I was checking out or whatever, that way, by the time I was outside with the kids, it'd be cooling down already.  Now that he's deployed, its not an option.  I still start the van before putting the kids inside though.

  2. I am pretty sure that my husband purchased a fan at Wal-Mart.  He was able to clip it in the back of my suv.  Look in the auto section, or ask someone that works there.
