do you have to pay child support to a 17 year old who is in employment but fancys taking a year out of education ,ive been told by the csa to pay up till 19 years old

  1. sorry..you pay. Why would you cheat your child out of things?  geezzz..even if he was employed and taking a year out of college he still needs clothes and stuff.  

    You shouldn't deny your kid what you owe him.  If he lived with you you would be supporting him ...providing a roof over his head..feeding him, buying him clothes and gas for his car etc.  What is the difference now?


  2. If he/she is 17 and working you dont have to pay CSA, even if they are taking a year out of education.

    You only have to pay up to 19 when they are actually studying

  3. Why do you say "...ive [sic] been told..."?  Read the court order.  If you do not have a copy, contact the clerk of the court.  It may be available online.

    You are obligated to do what the court order requires.

    Note: Sometimes a parent does more for his or her child than the minimum required by law.


  4. You pay child support to the age decreed by the court.  It doesn't make a d**n if the child is bone idle or a nuclear physicist.  You still pay.
