Child support and the court system?

i am not working at this time i am looking for a job but i am a convicted felon and every where i go and fill out an application there is the words are you a felon i answer yes well you no where that gets me. my question is when i go to court on child support the judge Locke's me up so that puts me further behind in support and further away from a job now he wants to put me in work release which cost 100. a month which i cant afford. i don't see the logic in it its hard enough being without a job much less keep going to jail every month can someone give me any suggestions on what i can do

Firstly, you need to apply to the courts to have your child support reduced or cancelled. No income means little or no support is payable by you...for the time being. As you have no income, you should be able to get a legal aid lawyer for this.

Secondly, get in touch with your local probation office, they will know lots of places that hire felons.

First - document everything. Make a list of all the places you applied, on what dates, etc. Make sure they are appropriate jobs - don't apply to jobs that don't fit your skills.

Second - call your state employment office. See if they have any program (or know of any program) to help felons get work.

I would call a bunch of the local temp agencies. They may be able to find a position for you, too.

Last, I'd also apply for even the simplest jobs - sweeping streets, flipping burgers. *Anything* to start working.

Take all this documentation with you when you go to court. If you can show you have really tried in many ways to get a job, it is more likely the judge will be understand your situation.

My ex had a criminal background as well but he would never admit it on applications. The only time an employer would find out about it is if they did a background check and most companies let you know in the hiring process whether or not they actually do background (or drug) tests.
