Childcare Rates in Singapore?

Question

Anyone knows the subsidised childcare rates in Singapore for an 18M? There are too many schools to call & enquiry, any parents who know how much schools like ntuc childcare/montessori/carpe diem/kinderland charge? Thanks.

Here's some good news! Unmarried and married mums alike qualify for childcare subsidies.

A centre-based child care subsidy of up to $150 per month per child is available for Singapore Citizen children and Permanent Resident (PR) infants and children below 7, attending licensed child care centres.

From 1 August 2004, a monthly centre-based infant care subsidy of up to $400 is available to Singapore Citizen infants aged 2 to 18 months (for the 1st to the 4th child) enrolled in infant care programmes in licensed child care centres.

A pro-rated subsidy is also available for infants and children who enrol in flexible care programmes.

The subsidy rates are based on the programme type and working status of the mother. To qualify as a working mother, a mother must work at least 56 hours per month."

subsidies are generally based on how many hours you work per week/month and how much money you make. the rates of childcare costs can vary from person to person based on how much they work. what you need to do is find out if you need to contact the government for subsidized childcare or if you can get subsidy directly through the childcare. when looking for a day care for your child, keep some of these things in mind:

- What is the staff to child ratio is. of course they'll follow the state regulations, but they might have even more staff then the state requires.

- Ask them what their staff turnover is like. if the staff is happy and staying there, better chance they treat their kids great, too.

- You can ask what degree the lead teacher in each room has and how much experience they've had with kids.

- If you have time, you could attend a board meeting. that would give you a chance to meet people who have kids who go there and learn a little more about the center.
