Childminder Fee's?

I want to start sending my son to a child minder. What I'd like to know is do I have to pay any kind of fee before I start sending him (i.e to secure a place or such) or would I have to pay at the end of the first month he's been looked after?

  1. Each provider is different some want a month in advance as payment, so you are always a month in hand.

You will have a contract, which is good for you to as it protects you, as you both have to give notice of withdrawal of services/custom.

Check with your local council, as some employers do a scheme whereby you get a voucher up to a maximum of £243 per month towards fees, and this is tax free decucted from salary at source, so you in fact save £70 tax. This does not affect WFTC either.

  2. well i looked after two boys and before i looked after them they went to a childminder-and i knwo that their mum said she needed to give the childminder 2 weeks notice i think or maybe it was a month before she could stop sending them

so i guess you have to pay in advance the childminder i know charges £8 per hour which is fairly cheap considering some might charge more

  3. it all depends up to the child minder and the charge depends on where u live and how old ur child is good luck

  4. You usually have to pay up front - at least a week - personally I have to pay a whole month but that is for a children's centre and not a childmonder.  also you can set up a standing order if preferred

  5. as much as they want!

  6. most childminders want to be paid weekly cash in hand and they do there own tax dont forget use a registered childminder with a good ofsted reportand you may be elligible for help from tax credits
