I want to buy some books for my 4 year old niece. Does anyone have any suggestions for some fun and/or educational books for a girl that age? Thanks in advance.

  1. mother goose? many little girls LOVE disney princesses. those mini disney princess books are pretty good. very cute. :)

  2. it's a sesame street book with grover called "the monster at the end of this book"

    its really good.

  3. There are sooo many. My three year old dd and I recently enjoyed:

"How Artists See" series which are fun art books with encourage touching the pictures and really looking a details.

"Random House Book of Poetry" has lots of great poems by various authors.

"Charlotte's Web" the wonderful classic animal story.

"Chimp Math" a wonderful math and animal story which made her want to tell time.

I could go on and on but it's getting late.

  4. Anything by David Weisner

or find out her interests and then visit a book store. The salespeople in the children's section should be able to help you pick a good book on that topic.

  5. I have a 3 year old daughter and we really love ...

The Olivia Series by Ian Falconer

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse (and other Lilly books)

    Angelina Ballerina books

These are all sweet girl stories appropriate for preschoolers.  If you want something more gender neutral check out these (I have a son also)

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

One File Day by Nonny Hogrogian

The Peace Book by Todd Parr

Both my kids loved all these stories.  OR if you are feeling generous, this treasury is a wonderful collection of children's stories at many levels.  The easiest stories are great for beginning readers too.

    Good luck

  6. If you have a good book store near you, visit the children's section and ask the clerk for recommendations.  You might also want to visit the children's room in your local library and see what the librarian recommends.

My favorite children's authors are Eric Carle, Robert Munsch, and Dr. Seuss.

  7. dora the explor my little loves those books the educational and there fun she said

  8. for four year olds, it will be good if the stories' values are strong, and the words used are understandably quite vocabulartive for 4 yrs. like another user said, repeitive phrases will do well to help them rmb.

books with picts mainly of contrasting colours will also do good in helping them to recognize items. (i think, its an old saying)

look out for books with monsters and ghosts etc. these usually leave shadows in them so throw them out of your list.

other than that, books meant for K1 or 2 will suit them well too.. but dont overdo it. sometimes letting them have fun while learning is good...

they can interact better with the surroundings
