Question:

Children's Church Activities... Any Ideas??

Me and a friend are teaching children's church tomorrow and I'm in need of craft or activity ideas for the kids, basically as a way to calm the kids down and knock off some time after the lesson (which she's in charge of). I don't need anything spectacular but just a few examples of stuff we could do with the kids would be great. Nothing to expensive either.

Thanks for all the help.

  1. I discovered this site yesterday

    http://www.kidssundayschool.com/Preschoo...

You can click on lessons (scroll down to the free ones), using stories, crafts, coloring pages, etc.  Or just go to activities or crafts at the top and use what you have materials for.

    Good luck!

  2. get some playdo ot mold, and make crosses. The next time they come, you can paint them! I know id love that, even now...

You can also buy alot of beads at a store and a bunch of ''godly'' stuff like crosses and birds to put on them.

  3. telling bible stories

colouring pictures of the things in the stories

    answering easy questions

    singing songs

    watching movies in the bible

doing worksheets in books or booklets

  4. One of my children's church class's favorite craft is tie dyed butterflies. I place a box of water color markes in the center of the table. Give each child a coffee filter. Let them draw all over it. Then I take each filter and spray it lightly, but enough that it is wet and lay it out on a table. The water color markers will "bleed" on the coffee filter giving it a dyed look. Then with your hands take a top and bottom and gather it together in the center. You can either use a springloaded clothes pin (and the kids can color this also) or you can use a chenille stick (pipe cleaner) to hold the center together.

The story I use is about how we start out as caterpillars, but if we let God guide us he will turn us into butterflies and help us soar.

  5. Make two copies of bible characters and turn them over and play the match game.

  6. Do you know what the lesson is about?   What I would do is to try to do something that would tie in with the lesson.  Children learn from repetition.  It also depends on the age of the children what all you can do or make.  You can't make a craft that a 6th grader would like with a 4 year old.   Color sheets are always good, and songs.  Like if you were talking about Abraham you could sing the song Father Abraham and do the motions to it.  It is a long song that takes up some time.  Just don't let the kids get to wild doing it.....lol

    Good luck

I have listed a few websites below to give you some ideas hope it helps

  7. There are tons of kids bibles try reading them to them they make "stories " interesting

im 12 and i liked them when i was 4-8 but kinda boring now hope this helps : )

  8. Play some classic games:

    *Simon Says

    *Red Light, Green Light

    *Duck, Duck Goose

    Sing silly songs.

Ask them to draw a picture about the lesson. Ask them to tell you about the picture and write their exact words on the picture.

Buy some Play Dough and cookie cutters.
