I have a few questions about the Tropidoderus childrenii (Children's stick insect). I have quite a few of them at home and was wondering:

1. What other types of stick/leaf insects would i be able to keep with them, preferably eating same food

and

2. How long does it take for the children's stick insect eggs to hatch.

Thank you

  1. I have this species in an enclosure with Spiny leaf insects and they are fine together. The eggs from both these species will hatch in 2 months to 2 year's time. It depends on the conditions. Usually mine have taken about 9 to 12 months to hatch. It is best to place the eggs on sand in a container and mist occasionally. They need to be kept in a teperature range of about 20-30 degrees celsius. Provide some leaves when you expect hatching to occur.I have also kept eggs in a small plastic container for over a year and they have not hatched as yet.
