Question:

Children's vitamins?

I tried looking up some childrens vitamins and the lead issue, a lot of it was dated 2004 or 2006.

Does anyone know the link or info on the current standings on vitamins. My kids have always taken Centrum kids, but it is very constipating and they hate the taste. My step sister uses Gummy Vites and my kids loved them. I switched are they are not constipating at all. But I saw in the old reports that Gummy Vites was one of the ones with lead, although they said they did not. Does anyone know the current info? Also a swallowable vitamin for kids? I can only find teen vitamins and my kids are only 7 and 9. The teen vitamins had a LOT more than Centrum Kids.

  1. you could always look for a liquid. I think centrum makes one. look for it with the adult vitamins

  2. I've linked you to an article on vitamins, which includes info on some kid's brands.

The problem can be more than lead content...some brands have too much vitamin A, which weakens bones.

Rather than go the vitamin route, work on making sure their diet is adequate.  Kids who get enough vitamins in their diets and a modicum of sunshine (for vitamin D) don't need to take supplements.  But those scare tactics used by drug companies sure can make a parent worry!

Hang in there.  I bet your kids are fine!

    Be well.

  3. My pediatrician says that Gummy Vites are fine and not to belive the hype.

I'd love to know if you find a swallowable vitamin - I'm looking for the same info.

  4. My doctor said the best vitamins are those baby drops called poly vi sol that you give to breast fed babies. He also said that the other vitamins are loaded with sugar. I still use the gummy vites because I tried to put it in their orange juice and they noticed and just didn't drink it. The gummy vites seem to really help their immune system. My dr also suggested the danactive drinkable yogurt and they will also drink that too.

  5. My bro (6) gets the gummy ones. but the flinstones are great (flinstone gummy ones)
