I recently saw this advert on tv and it completely stopped me in my tracks! It makes me want to cry every time I see it, it's so true. What do you think?

  1. I've never seen this before. Wow. Very powerful. Especially with the music. I was almost crying by the time it reached the end.

My first thought is that this Australian public service announcement would never be aired in America, no matter how compelling, because it contains imagery that is considered verboten here. For example, a child with a cigarette in her fingers. Theoretically, these images are forbidden BECAUSE American television is seen by children, and they must never catch an image of someone their own age with a cigarette. Why? Because children see. Children do. (Love that double meaning.)

The irony that this compelling message about protecting our children would likely be routinely censored in order to protect our children... just kills me. I'm pretty sure airing this would do more to protect our children than not. We do need a wake-up call about how our adult behaviors act as living examples for the formative behavior of our children.

Thank you for sharing this advert.

  2. WOW

  3. wow that actually gave me chills it really is so true

  4. An Absolutely brilliant Ad

That was done by the guys at DDB (Matt Eastwood & co), and directed by Sean Meehan who's a genius.

    It is so powerful.

  5. i dont know ,perhaps the majority of children do do what their parents do,but on the other hand my two brothers and two sisters and myself dont smoke where as both my parents did and heavily.

i personally have never had a cigarette in my life so i think its down to the individual wether or not they want to copy their parents

  6. Jesus, you wern`t wrong!

It certainly isa powerful indictment on the status of society today - maybe parents will realise that the responsability for bringing up their children lies with themselves first and foremost, rather than the state....

  7. Children learn by copying their environment, therefore they will always base their actions on the parents, their friends and role models on TV etc..

I am a parent and sometimes its best to think twice before an action is taken

  8. I completely agree, very potent and very disturbing.
