It is quite possible that the father of the child may not be known immediately ..... even if it is known how is this situation handled under polyamorous relationships.

  1. I honestly don't know of anyone that have had children inside a polyamorous quad or MFM triad, which is what I'm sure you are referring to.  However, I would imagine that if it did occur they'd find out for sure through DNA or blood testing, but if they are in a solid, committed relationship just like a married couple (which is what poly is all about), than it should not be an issue raising the child together within the poly relationship.  Also, I would imagine that the other male partner would be as joyous for it as the woman and the other male, because again, that is what a polyamorous relationship is all about.

  2. I would assume that if the mother was unmarried, she would leave that space empty until a paternity test could be done to determine who is the father.

If she was married, she would probably put down the husband as the legal father, whether he was the biological father or not.  Home paternity tests, for peace of mind, are not very expensive.

  3. Wouldn't it be a little irresponsible for polyamorous couples to have children and not know who biologically is related to who in the first place?

  4. How difficult, sorry not got any experience or ideas, just that honesty is usually the best policy with kids, from adoption to s*x talk they understand and accept at their level and grow with the information. Best of luck x
