Do all children get it? Because my two girls are 2 and 3 and they have never had it? If they do, is there any way i can prevent this from happening?

  1. Yes, there's a vaccine.  They usually get it at age 2.  Most schools require the vaccine before they start kindergarten.  Not everyone gets it, but it's highly contagious and is miserable.  It's much harder if you get it as an adult, so it's better to get it as a kid; but once you get it, your body builds up antibodies and you are immune.

  2. My oldest 2 got chicken pox from a family member's kids when they were 1 and 5 years old, and my younger 2 I found someone that had kids with chicken pox so they would get exposed and they had them at 3 and 4 years of age.

They each were uncomfortable for about a week and totally over it in 2 weeks and are now immune for life. Of course if they had any immunity issues or other physical problems I would not have done this.

I do not feel comfortable with the vaccine because, from what I understand, they have to go back for boosters every 10 years. If they become cocky in their 20's or 30's  and don't go for the booster, they run the risk of getting chicken pox as adults and it is worse then.

  3. Not all children get it, some may get it later in life. You can give them both a vaccine, that way if they do end up getting chicken pox it will be a milder case. As you get older your chicken pox will be worse considering everyones immune system weakens as they get older.  Hope this helped!
