My 7 year old dosent get to sleep until around 11pm, he's up now resisting as best he can. We put him to bed at 8.30 but he will mull around for an hour go to the loo, go back to bed, then make a few noises, but will not go to sleep. Could it be the case that some kids dont need as much sleep and we accept this?

  1. same as my 6 year old brother. my mom told him there is a sleeping fiary and at night she would give him a quarter or a piece of candy

  2. fresh air mind u my daughter dont go to sleep till 1am

  3. As long as he can wakeup when he needs to and isn't overly tired during the day he is getting enough sleep.  My oldest son functions on 8-10 hrs where my other son can't function all that great without 12 hrs.  If you want him in bed earlier then have him get up earlier (the time he would have to get up to get ready for school) and make sure he doesn't have sugar or caffine after suppertime.  Do a bedtime routine or bath, brush teeth, go potty and head to bed for maybe story time (no tv that will just keep their minds active) then he should show signs he is getting tired.  Turn off the lights and let him try to go to sleep.  It can take awhile.  Make sure he is also very active throughout the day to wear himself out.  Some kids though like you said just need less sleep.

  4. Maybe he`s too hot or too cold.Try reading to him.
