Children with downsyndrome?

can children with down syndrome be excessively active and hyper. I know a friend of mine who has a down syndrome boy who is about 8 years old and everytime we would take him out he would always run away from us, and the kid is just really hyper and restless when we take him out. Any ideas why?

Down Syndrome people see things in a different light.  Everything is fascinating....We should take a leaf out of their book....Because we take everything for granted.  I think they're are the most intelligent, insightful wonderful people on earth.  Ps sense of humour, second to none, they take the p**s out of us.

Some of them are like that. i'd prefer that if i had a downs kid that he'd be very active.

He is probably very excited about the world around, he sees a lot of things he likes and wants to explore. I don't know if it has anything to do with downsyndrome
