  1. well, you can find lots of ideas on preschooleducation.com.

I think your first thing is you need to start with a theme and go from there. Find some books to read too. Good luck!

  2. I am in charge of a weekly program at our church for children ages 3-8.  It lasts about 25 minutes and is held during the church worship service. Since the kids have already had Sunday School, and are in attendance for a portion of the worship service, I try and make my program different from either of these.  I usually do a book and a craft, the book being something with a good moral message, but not necessarily a Bible Story.

Here are a couple of suggestions of books you could find at your local library:

Grow Flower Grow by Lisa Bruce  (originally titled Fran's Flower)

we talk about how God made the flower grow, not Fran.  I say "Who made the flower grow?" and they respond "God did!"  We make some kind of flower craft- cut flowers out of construction paper and mount on colored paper to make a "garden" or a "vase" of flowers.

    Flower Garden by Eve Bunting

this book has minimal text, so it's a quick read.  Good for taking up a few minutes or a quick project.  It's about a little girl who makes a flower window box for her Mom's birthday.  Themes of giving, thinking of others, and making something that makes people smile.  You could make "window boxes" using brown construction paper and paper flowers, or plant real flowers if you are brave.

    Elmer by David McKee

Story about a multi colored elephant who longs to be grey just like everybody else.  In the end, he finds he is valued for his individuality.

Cut out a pattern of an elephant and cover with multi colored tissue paper.  As an addition: you could cut out round circles and string them on yarn to make a necklace for each child- circle says "God loves me just the way I am"

Other authors you could look up are:

Liz Curtis Higgs and Holly Bea.  Both are authors of religious Christian books.

  3. Calvary Chapel has 325 free printable lesson plans for this age group from the Old Testament and the New Testament in English and Spanish.  Here is the link:

I used this so much when I was the Religious Education Coordinator for the military chapel when we were in Germany.
