  1. my friend told me about this website- www.half.com it's an off shoot of ebay. They have really good prices on children's books. Some are new and some are gently used, it tells you in the discription. Also if you have Kohl's near you, they have a program Kohl's for kids, that puts out new books every couple of months, and they have really good books for $5 and the money goes to the kohl's for kids charity. Right now they have Hard cover eric Carle books like brown bear brown bear. You won't find a better deal then that!

  2. www.amazon.co.uk

    www.mantralingua.co.uk

    www.play.com

    www.ebay.co.uk

I usually buy cheap books from my local town-we have lots of discount shops, warehouse book shops etc where I pick up books from £1!!! They even sell the Mr Men collection cheaply which i was VERY happy with :)

  3. You may want to try crownbooks or lulu publishing.  Amazon has low cost books as does Target.

  4. walmart

    ebay

  5. A book a week might be rather much--especially if the child is not reading.  Children like to have repetition as well as have exposure to  new things.  You might check out used book stores--many times there are gently used books that look almost new and you might be able to get more for less.  My mother sent several books to my kids and a tape with her reading the books 'to them'.  The kids were 4 and 6 at the time and they would sit on the couch and look at the books while Grannie read them a story. It was a great way to connect over the miles.  Another option could be to get them a magazine like Highlights or Zoo Pals which they can enjoy over a month and then get another one.  It is nice that you want to have a relationship with your niece and nephew but keep in mind that a short note might be more meaningful in the long run than a big stack of books.  Kids really want and need people in their lives, not just stuff.
