  1. Pretty vague question...

Childrens skis are a bad investment unless the child will be skiing a lot during the season. Depending on the age of the child, they can grow fast leaving them with skis too small to promote improvement and bindings that need remounted / replaced because shoes changed sizes.

  2. rent them wherever you plan to go.

  3. Not sure what your question is, but I'll try to guess?

Don't buy skis for a child unless you live in a region where your child will be able to ski regularly and get plenty of use out of them before he/she outgrows them in either size or ability.  I would consider used skis even for this possibly.

Otherwise, you will be able to rent skis for your child's size and ability at any ski resort you are planning to visit.  Most have ski schools for youngsters so that you can enroll your child for half day or all day while the rest of the family skis or takes adult lessons.  All rental shops have trained staff to help you pick the right size skis for your child.
