My nine year old daughter has been complaining of stomach pain for the past few days. I gave her some Pepto and she was fine. It is a on again/off again pain. She states it is below her below button pain (sort of the area where I would get mestrual cramps). I asked her if she had used the bathroom (bowel movement) and she stated yes, she had and it was normal. This morning, she woke up and has a fever of 100.9 with this. She is going to the doc today, but I was just wondering if any of your children had this sort of pain, if so, what did it end up being. She had this same thing happen almost a year ago, she would be doubled over in pain and a few minutes later, she would be fine. I took her to her doc and they referred her to a specialist and they could find nothing wrong. Her doc prescibed her some antiacid-like meds and that seemed to work for the time, but I am wondering why its back again. Should I have them check something else?

  1. Maybe it could just be gas...do you think she's lactose intolerant?   Or eating something that causes her intestinal distress..something that doesn't digest well??  Try cutting dairy from her diet for a few days and see what happens.  If that doesn't work...try cutting something else.  Keep a chart of her diet and mark when her stomach hurts..try to see a trend in what could be causing it.

  2. Sounds like menstrual cramps to me...and yes you CAN run a slight fever just before your period.  Welcome to puberty

  3. When I was 9, my period started. Could she be starting?  Also, my daughter used to complain about stomach pain all the time. It turned out that she was lactose intolerant. Now, she can have just one serving of dairy a day (milk or cheese or yogurt). If she has more than that, she gets a terrible stomach pain.
