  1. YES!  Where else can they play.....down the street next to the town freak?  I don't think anyone could ever tell me where my kids could play.  If it's the HOA, tell them to go to h**l or threaten(and carry through) with a lawsuit.

  2. It sounds like the Homeowners Association knows that children are more likely to be hurt in the front yard than the back and are worried about having to pay out money when this happens!

Meanwhile, kids play in front yards everywhere, all the time, especially if there is a fence.

  3. You need to read your CCR's  VERY closely!!!  It could very well state that kids are not allowed to play out front and that you cannot use sidewalk chalk.  At the next HOA meeting, you should bring up your concerns and see if others agree with you.

  4. We live in the desert, so all of the front "yard" landscape is rocks and desert plants (read: cactus).  So, it's not like we send the kids out to go play on the jagged rocks!

But they bounce balls in the driveway, do sidewalk chalk etc.

Our backyard landscaping is more condusive to playing outside.

Before we moved to the desert, our children played outside in the front yard all of the time.

ETA: Sidewalk chalk is vandalism?!  And I thought our HOA was ridiculuous!
