The Mexicans aren’t really the favourites to win the Copa America 2011 but they showed what they are capable of while playing the Gold Cup. However, the Mexican team that showed up in the Copa America 2011 did not have their star striker Javier “Chicharito”
Hernandez because his club coach Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has called him back. While Chicharito has gone back due to the fact that he might get “tired” during the pre-season, some of the other Mexican players are missing out on the Copa because of either prostitution
scandals, or doping allegations.
Chile, on the other hand, are coming out strong in the competition because of their new star sensation http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexis-Sánchez-c4979 – the player who has done wonders while playing for Udinese during his last season at the Italian Serie A.
Both the coaches played the best team available to them. While the Mexican coach Jose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 De La Torre played the traditional 4-4-2 formation, the Chilean coach Claudio Borghi played an unusual 3-5-2.
The Chilean man Claudio Bravo stood guard between the two poles and he was assisted by three centre backs. Gonzalo Jara played as the left centre back while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Waldo-Ponce-c36545 who featured in the heart of
the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 as a centre back.
With only three defenders, the Chilean coach played two holding midfielders. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
With two holding midfielders in the team, an attacking midfielder was added along with one right attacking midfielder and one left attacking midfielder. The concept of right and left attacking midfielders was laid out so that both of them can track back
and both of them can move out wide and play as wingers.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-Isla-c24922 while the left attacking midfield position was taken by Matias Fernandez.
There were two strikers up front. The first was the Udinese star Alexis Sanchez and he partnered himself up with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Humberto-Suazo-c16447. Both played as right and left strikers respectively.
On the other hand, the Mexicans played the usual 4-4-2. While Luis Michel played in his goalkeeping position, he was aided by four defenders.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Nicolas Aguilar played in the right back position while Nestor Araujo played in the left back position. Hector Reynoso and Hiram Mier partnered up in the centre back position.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Enriquez played their part in the centre of the pitch. One of the two used to make a run forward in order to help in the attack while the other stayed back to keep a man in the midfield.
Darvin Francisco Chavez played on the right wing while Javier Aquino featured on the left wing. Both the players were added to the team to play out wide and provide the Mexicans with pace on the flanks.
Up front were the two Mexican strikers Rafael Marquez Lugo and Gio Dos http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532.
The first half saw the Chileans start the game brightly; however, the Mexicans took advantage of a shaky moment and took the lead later on during the game.
As the game started, the Udinese star, Alexis Sanchez showed that he is still very young and the price tag put upon him is quite heavy to keep. Sanchez was totally clean on goal as Isla played an inch perfect through ball towards him; however, the young
Chilean star could not find the back of the net despite the fact that he could have done much better.
Later, the Chilean centre back played a wonderful ball to Fernandez who took his shot on goal but it couldn’t find the target. It was a great long effort but it was always going wide for the Mexican goal stopper, Michel.
Sanchez looked to be threatening as the match continued. As the goalkeeper Michel came off his lines, Sanchez released Suazo outside the box but as soon as he got his shot on goal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 was quick enough to make a run back to his goal to deflect the ball
outside.
Sanchez and Fernandez were combining well in the first half and during the half hour mark; both the men played a wonderful one-two with each other and played a cut through pass towards Suazo. Despite controlling the ball perfectly, he couldn’t keep it down
as it was blasted off the target.
Sanchez had another great opportunity during the 41st minute of the game when Beauejour drilled in a perfect cross towards the Udinese star but he simply couldn’t reach it despite sliding towards it.
The Chileans dominated the first half but still found themselves trailing. Mexico won a free kick outside the box and it was Dos Santos who delivered the ball inside the box, Marquez flicked the ball with his header and found http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Araujo-c6435 on the run. The full
back made no mistake to head the ball towards goal and even though the shot seemed to be stoppable, the Chilean goalkeeper couldn’t reach it as it found the back of the net.
Chileans dominated throughout the first half but the Mexican youngsters are leading the game after some poor defending shown by Chileans towards the end of the first half.
