Peru were the weaker side of the match but after their performances in the first two fixtures of the competition, they were expected to do wonders. However, the first half pretty much dominated by the Chileans.
The first http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 chance of the game was created by Peru. It was Chiroque who stepped up during the sixth minute of the game and decided to take a shot on goal from 25 yards out. His shot was perfectly taken but it flew just over the bar.
Chile came back with a quick reply during the eleventh minute. Beausejour gave a cut back pass towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paredes-c29129 but the Chilean star couldn’t get his foot right. It was a glorious chance for Chile to score the opening goal of the game.
Chile again created a wonderful opportunity. It was Estrada who decided to take a shot from long distance. The Chilean man couldn’t get his shot on target but it was always looked threatening.
Peru were relying too much on counter attacks. Even though Chileans were barely leaving spaces at the back, Peru still got their chance during the 17th minute. Corzo received the ball on the counter attack and just when everyone thought he would
cross it in, he decided to shoot in on goal from an unusual angle. The ball couldn’t really find the target but it was a chance which Peru could take advantage from.
Both the teams tried to dominate possession throughout the first half. Chile had most of the ball and they created most of the chances with their striker falling back and collecting the ball in the midfield of six players.
Suazo had a chance to score from a volley right in front of goal. However, his volley was mishit and it went wide off the target. Suazo seemed frustrated as it was an outstanding opportunity to open the scoring.
The best chance for Peru came during the 36th minute when Guevara took a free kick which Ponce allowed to go pass him. The ball curled and almost found the back of the net. However, Pinto was present to claw it out.
The first half ended with none of the teams scoring the opener. It was quite an open game but Chile still dominated in terms of possession while Peru had everything going right for them as they relied too much on counter attacking football.
