Chile vs. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011
The first half between the two South American teams ended 1-0 in favour of Venezuela. Chileans were mostly silent throughout the first half of the competition as Venezuelans were all on the attack and threatening the Chilean goal.
As the second half kicked off, the Chilean coach Claudio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Borghi decided to make one change while the Venezuelan coach Cesar Farias kept the same line up and seemed satisfied with it.
Carmona was the one who made way for Valdivia in the Chilean midfield.
While the first half was eventful, the second half was much more. It took Chile only seven minutes to create the first opportunity of the game. It was Suazo who provided a perfect cross towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexis-Sánchez-c4979 standing at the far post. The Udinese star managed
to head the ball past Vega but Perozo was standing on the line and made a goal line save to keep his team into the game.
Chileans were giving it all that they could. The very next minute saw Suazo in action again. The Chilean striker made a wonderful turn inside the box and took his shot on goal. His effort only managed to hit the post but it shook the Venezuelan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 yet
again.
Chilean again came on the attack. The second half substitute, Valdivia took a shot on goal from long range and struck the post yet again. Venezuelan defence was falling all over the place while the Chileans were showing that they are the true come back kings
of the South American competition. They were looking to be strong up front and they could score any time soon.
Chileans were controlling the game perfectly in the midfield. They missed out a lot of chances but it was mostly luck that was not allowing them to find the back of the net. After ten minutes, they created the next opportunity of the game.
Jimenez took a free kick from outside the box and curled it to find Valdivia inside the box. The Chilean man had a free header inside the box and even though his effort was on target, Vega collected the ball and saved the day for his side. It was unbelievable
but Chileans were still trailing to the Venezuelans despite taking so many shots on target.
Chileans were being a threat on goal time and time again. Sanchez had an opening during the 69th minute to score a goal but his taken effort only managed to find Vega who was on a role for most of the time in the game.
A minute later, Chileans finally made a breakthrough. They were threatening the Venezuelan goal for quite some time and they finally scored. Sanchez gave a cut through pass to Suazo who shot the ball with power, struck the cross bar and found the back of
the net. It would be unlucky yet again if the ball would bounce out after hitting the cross bar but it didn’t and somehow got past Vega.
Sanchez then created the next chance of the game. The Udinese star evaded a few challenges outside the box and took his shot on goal but Vega yet again made a tremendous save.
Venezuela won a free kick during the 80th minute. Arango took the free kick again and Vizcarrondo was the one who headed it towards the goal yet again. This time Bravo was present to save his team but he could only produce a rebound for Cichero
who easily tapped the ball in to give Venezuela the lead.
It was a shock to see Venezuela take the lead in the second half as they were mostly defending while the Chileans struck the post twice.
Two minutes later, Medel received a second yellow card for an intentional hand ball and he was sent off.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 yet again came on the attack to at least take the game to extra time but Isla failed to score. It was Suazo who took his shot on goal and Vega saved it yet again but failed to keep hold of it. The deflected shot was taken by Isla but his effort was
cleared right on the goal line.
Right at the 90th minute of the game, Moreno could have easily sealed the game off as he was one-on-one with Ponce. The Venezuelan man couldn’t really pass the ball correctly and it ended up in the goalkeeper’s safe hands.
During the 92nd minute, Rincon was given a straight red for pulling Isla back. The match ended two minutes later and Chile lost the game to Venezuela and another side which was considered to be favourites to win the competition was eliminated
by an underdog team. The final score of the game was 2-1 in favour for Venezuela.
