Chileans were to face Venezuela in the quarter final stage of the Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011. While Chileans were considered to be the favourites to win the game, anything was expected of the Venezuelan side as they were truly the black horses of the competition.
Claudio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Borghi, the Chilean coach, played his favourite 3-5-2 formation while the Venezuelan coach Cesar Farias played a traditional 4-4-2.
Bravo played between the two sticks for Chile. The Chilean goal stopper was aided by three defenders. Contreras, Ponce and Jara were the players who featured in the defensive role.
The five midfield players meant that there were two holding midfielders, one attacking midfielder and two wingers. The holding midfielders were Medel and Vidal while Isla played in the attacking midfield. Carmona and Jimenez featured on the wings for the
Chilean side.

The first half of the game was quite eventful and it produced the first goal of the game. Venezuelans were the ones who created the first http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 opportunity on goal and it took them 10 minutes to create it.
Arango was the one who collected the ball on the left flank and got past a couple of challenges to find himself in a position to shoot on goal. The Venezuelan midfielder took an outstanding shot from his left foot and even though Bravo wasn’t on his line,
the ball flew just wide off the target.
Rincon created the next opportunity of the game. Lucena was the one who was fouled outside the box and he took the free kick quickly. Rincon found ample of space from 25 yards out and he took his shot on goal. Bravo was alert this time and he dived in to
save the day for the Chilean team.
After the half hour mark, Vizcarrondo was the player who helped the Venezuelans take the well deserving lead. Arango took a free kick from outside the box and Vizcarrondo was present at the correct position only ten yards out, the Venezuelan man easily headed
the ball in and found the back of the net.
Chileans were mostly silent throughout the first half of the game. Venezuelans gave it all that was required to win the match but a one goal lead never looked comforting. The Chileans came on the attack right before the break and the first chance was created
through a free kick.
Jimenez took a free kick and Contreras collected it well inside the box. However, Vega was on his toes and easily took control of the situation through his perfect handling of the ball in the penalty area.
The first half ended with Venezuela winning the game 1-0. It was a shock for most of the fans as Chile were considered to be the favourites won winning the game. However, Copa America truly showed that it’s an unpredictable competition with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 losing
out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979 – almost all the big guns were knocked out because of an upset.
