A steady rain wasn't the only thing to greet Chilean miner Edison Pena when he landed at New York City's JFK Terminal 4 on Thursday morning. About 100 Chileans from an earlier flight were lined up cheering Chi-chi-chi, le-le-le, and according to New York City marathon race director Mary Wittenberg, "He comes in, takes a step back — he looked overwhelmed so you knew it was him." Then he glanced at one of the most accomplished distance runners in history, Haile Gebrselassie (who had arrived from Ethiopia about one hour earlier at the same terminal) and Pena's jaw dropped like an anchor.
